Summary

This year ENOS, the European Network on Ocuupational Social Work was celebrating the tenth anniversary. ENOS was established in the Netherlands in September 1990. The goals and objectives of ENOS are the exchange of knowledge, skills and expertises between occupational social workers. Therefore a European conference is regularly organised. At ENOS conferences occupational social workers have the opportunity to meet European colleagues in an up-to-date programme. After ENOS was established, conferences were held successively in the following countries: Portugal, Swtizerland, Greece, France, Sweden and Ireland.

The eighth ENOS conference was held in Hotel Atlantic, Den Haag (The Haque), the Netherlands with the theme: HEALTH AT WORK- focusing on the need for dialoque.

HEALTH AT WORK can be defined as the balance between the oprganisation's economic and social objectives. (Cox and other 1990). Our economy depends on the work and achievements of healthy people within the organisation. Bad management can lead to an unhealthy working environment.
Research shows that dialoque, in all its various forms, plays a key role in HEALTH AT WORK. Dialoque within the organisation is, therefore, essential.

The occupational social workers are the professionals who should be leading this dialoque. They have a keen eye for factors that can improve or impede the maintenance of healthy working conditions for employees. These factors can lie in (a) the structure of the organisation or (b) in the employee. It is the (c) occupational social worker's responsibility to identify these factors and deal with them in a professional manner.
